TOWN OF HUNTINGTON Awards Fly At Chamber’s Business Gala

The Chamber of Commerce Regional Business Partnership, as the Huntington Chamber of Commerce is known these days, celebrated its 10th annual Business of the Year Awards of Excellence gala last Thursday. This year's event, held at the Huntington Townhouse, was attended by nearly 500 business leaders, as well as elected officials and members of the media. "This awards program continues to reaffirm Long Island's economic vitality and highlight the business community's major contributions and accomplishments," said Chamber CEO Dennis Sneden. "It also demonstrates the diversity of businesses that positively influence the quality of life in our region. I couldn't be more proud to be here tonight surrounded by so many exceptional businesses and not-for-profit organizations."

Tagged the "Academy Awards of Business" by the region's business community, the 2003 gala was co-chaired by Katherine Heaviside, president of Epoch 5 Public Relations, and Robert Fonti, president of Vincent James Management. The event once again honored those businesses that have made a difference on Long Island, said organizers.

To be eligible for an award, companies large or small had to demonstrate not only their successful pursuit of industry, but also their philanthropic efforts and dedication to bettering the community. Winners were chosen by an independent committee of judges. The winners included: The Huntington Historical Society and Camp Alvernia in the Not-For-Profit category; Peare & Heller Financial Consultants for Accountants; Joseph J. Scarpulla- Architect, for Architects; Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, P.C., for Attorneys; Elegant Affairs, for Catering; Nightingale & Nightingale, Inc., for Communications; Telephonics Corporation, for Defense; Five Towns College and Adelphi University, for Education; Bethpage Federal Credit Union and Bank of Long Island, for Financial Institutions; Blue Honu Restaurant, for Food Service; Huntington Bay Dental, for Medical Services; Advantage Payroll Services, for Professional Services; Breslin Realty Development Corp., for Real Estate-Commercial; T. "

In the spirit of this event, in honoring our business leaders for their contributions to support our not-for-profit organizations, we are honored that tonight the Huntington Historical Society and Camp Alvernia are being recognized," said Sneden. "Both organizations join the town of Huntington in celebrating the 350th anniversary of our town and respective anniversaries as not-for-profit organizations which represent the foundation of our community."
